YOUNG SCIENTIST INDIA 2022-2023

YSI IS A BENCHMARK EVENT OF SPACE KIDZ INDIA. THIS IS THE 9TH EDITION OF YSI.

Young Scientist India is an innovation competition to promote science awareness among high school students, to increase their understanding of science, and to attract them into scientific careers and explore, as there is a BIG VACUUM in the enrolment of young scientists in our research centers.

The YSI Competition awards over half a million rupees in prizes to the best innovation for the budding innovator/entrepreneurs in four categories that holistically represent the solution types necessary to build an economy that works for all in the digital era.

The competition was split into 4 categories: App development, Electronics, Robotics, and Space Sciences. 

Eligibility​:  Class/Grade: 8th – 12th

Students from all over India are eligible to participate

PRIVATE AND GOVERNMENT STUDENTS HAVE TO BE REGISTERED SEPARATELY AND SEND THEIR PROJECT ABSTRACTS ONLINE.

REGISTRATIONS WERE OPEN TILL DECEMBER 2023.

The Grand Finale of Young Scientist India ‘22 – ‘23 was held on May 3rd and 4th, 2023, at the Russian Cultural Centre in Chennai. The event featured the finalists’ innovative projects from different categories, including Space Science, App Development, Electronics, and Robotics.

The aim of the event is to help spread the importance of science education among young people. The finalists presented their projects on May 3rd and 4th, and the judging took place at the Russian Cultural Centre.

On May 3rd, the evaluation for Space Science and App Development Category students took place, while the evaluation for Electronics and Robotics Category students and the Grand Finale took place on May 4th. The display of experiments and the judging took place in the presentation halls on the ground floor.

The event promised to be a spectacular display of innovation and creativity, with finalists presenting their groundbreaking ideas. We are honoured to have had distinguished dignitaries in attendance, including Chief Guest Gingee K. S. Masthan, the Minister of Minorities Welfare, Wakf Board, and Non-Resident Tamil Welfare, Refugees & Evacuees, Tamilnadu Government. The esteemed Guest of Honors includes Maj. Gen. M. Indrabalan – Chief of Staff The Dakshin Bharath Headquarters Area, Southern Command, Chennai, Mr Gennadii Rogalev – Vice  Consul and Director of the Russian Center of Science and Culture, Saravanan Viswanathan – Vice President of Hexaware. We were privileged to welcome our special guests, Dr Saranya Jayakumar, an Educational Psychologist, and Dr Md Nayeemur Rahman, Vice Chairman of Tamilnadu State Urdu Academy, to grace the occasion with their presence.

Over 3000 applicants from all over the Country from Government and Private schools were received of which 1685 were shortlisted from the abstracts they had sent. Then 360 were chosen for the online presentation from which 102 were chosen for the finale. Students had made a live presentation at Chennai Russian Cultural Center. From them we had chosen 22 grand finalists who were given a topic for extempore – ‘What would you do with the Grant amount Rs. 50000, and how would you convince your parents towards your passion?’

Scores of the extempore and presentation were added; top 3 winners of each Private and Government schools separately were chosen and awarded Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000, Rs. 15,000 each and 16 consolation prizes and 5 special jury prizes were awarded.

* 1st RUNNER UP won cash prizes of  Rs.30,000/- each. (1 from private and 1 from the Government School)

* Certificates to all the participants reaching round 2 of the competition.
